Warmzone Warms My Feet

Had a shoot today with Warmzone today. Heber shot with me. We were on tile most of the day in bare feet--or socks as per your preference--and my feet never experienced that painfully cold prick thanks to the radiant heat Warmzone was responsible for. I'm gonna have to put that stuff in my next pad.

Heading back from Oakland, CA where Heber and I have been filming with Crossfit, specifically Crossfit Football. A few participants: John Welbourn, Rafael Ruiz, Max Mormont. All were great to work with. Look forward to more.

Starting a new project for Southern Virginia University with Randall and Jeff. They shot the footage a few weeks ago and now we're editing. Looks to be a really fun project. More to come...

Candlelight Homes Shoot

Filmed with Candlelight Homes at two of their developments. One in North Salt Lake and another in Saratoga Springs.

Nice homes. Reasonable size. Attractive price. A little too far away from Salt Lake for me but functional for a lot of people.

...No I don't make commissions, but it sounds like it after that little pitch.

Just finished the ICE/Hammer Tour Promo for Rockstar Shows. rockstartshows.com. We filmed the reunion concert which is the footage we used for the promo. That was the first time they had played together in over 18 years if my facts are correct. Great show.

Purity 12 Shoot

Filmed with a new client last weekend. I had Tim come shoot to as we did a two camera shoot. Purity 12 is the name of the company. They sell what I call body betterment products. They were great to work with. We'll be filming some more pieces with them and we are looking forward to it.

Powerade Spec Ad

I shot a spec ad for Powerade on friday with Heber and Matt. It went really well. Matt did a killer job producing it and Heber killed it as director. I pulled up the slack as DP. hahaha Here's a few frames from the shoot. We used a redrock 35mm adapter which was pretty fun. I did notice that when you have a solid color, like a very blue sky, you can see the circular rotation of the filter inside. Weird, but whatever.

Shadows On The Bottom Of The Clouds

So I was finishing up mowing my lawn when I looked up and saw this, shadows being cast on the bottom of the clouds by larger rain clouds. I was facinated. I've never seen that. Way cool.

Senator Bob Bennett and Karl Rove

Shot with Ethan again last saturday. We filmed with Senator Bennett and Karl Rove. Nothing too exciting, but that's what happened. Oh, and the site is up and going. There are a few issues with videos taking way to long to load so I'm looking into that problem. I need to match the compression of the SBK Spot.

Website Redesign

Just 7 more days to the launch of the new website. The goal was simple, clean, tight, easy to navigate and good looking. I'd say we are coming pretty close to all of them right now. We are adding still and print work we have done. They'll be viewable with cool viewer window or as a slideshow.

The film pages will be simple with not much more than a quicktime on the page to show the work.

My Birthday Lawn Mower

So I don't know why, but I have really wanted one for a while and with some birthday money and a little of my own I went and bought me a birthday lawn mower. They had even assembled this one earlier that morning so it has the same birthday as me. I was so excited to use it I went straight home and cut my lawn. What a wonderful day!

Mine Blast Freeze Frames

So here are the freeze frames I promised showing the mine blast. We shot it at 60fps with a shutter of 1/500 and...I don't remember the f-stop. I had no idea there was so much math and prep that goes into blowing up dirt.

Secret Project Still Rolling Out

We have finished our cut for the secret project we have been working on. Still can't say what it is, but it is good! As I mentioned earlier, it is actually two things; a tv show and the bigger one, the one that sparked interest for the tv show is our feature documentary. Keep a close watch. More to come.

Bald Mountain Mine Shoot

Filmed at Barrick's Bald Mountain Mine in Nevada this past week. Our primary focus was an interview with one of their VPs but we happened to get a lot of great footage while out scouting the massive mine site. Massive loader, massive haulers, massive shovels, massive... well everything was massive including the blast. Freeze frames coming soon.

Work Is Play

Had another pick-up shoot with Precision Concrete Cutting last week. It went well. Looks like we'll be wrapping up their project soon. They've been great to work with.

Danny Drysdale, Heber Cannon and I have been working on a little secret project. Well, there are two projects really. One is a feature film and the other is a reality tv show and they both have to do with the guy who coined the phrase, "Ice, ice baby..."

I had a shoot with Senator Bob Bennett on friday and saturday. Ethan called me to see if I could shoot it for him. It worked out well and the shoot was good. The Senator has a good sense of humor and seems very dedicated to his work. An all-around good guy.

iPhone 3G S

Apple announced several new products today, including the new iPhone 3G S--one would assume the 'S' stands for 'sport'. They claim it to be 2x faster and larger, up to 32GB with a host of other functions. Part of the announcement is the new 3.0 software.

All in, I'm a little itchy to get my paws on one. I've loved my iPhone--AT&T, not so much--and would love to have some of the new features and agility of the new phone. I often find myself using my phone to show clients work I have done or rough cuts in the field and in doing, my iPhone--also know as my allPhone--is tapped out on storage. I do love the integration of the mobile me account as it tethers all of my email, contacts, calendars, etc. with my phone and all of my Mac computers.

More SBK World Superbike

I got to get down trackside to film which was a lot of fun. This is the Italian racer, Fabrisio, turning into the second to last hairpin turn at over 60 mph.

I finished filming yesterday and now in in Lake Powell doing some stuff so I'll get some more freeze frames and footage up when I'm done down here.

Filming SBK World Superbike

I have been filming the SBK World Superbike the last few days. It was held at the Miller Motorsports Park, about 40 minutes outside of Salt Lake City.

It is a 4 day event full if bmx, stuntbike, big air motos and the pinnical of course being the superbike races. An estimated 150 million people watch World Superbike every week.

Saturday was the pole positioning, time trials. I was caught hitching a ride with the Nappi/Miller Track Girls on their golf cart. I'll post a few more images from my phone.

Hit The Lake ... Again

We grabbed a couple friends and ran up to Jordanelle Saturday morning, despite the less than fair weather. The day started out cold, cloudy and rainy and ended cold, mostly cloudy and glass! Check out the images on the gallery.
